Cat A (small cars) rose $2,009 (+3.7%) to $57,010. That is its 4th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat A premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Dec 2020 Ex 1, it was $40,714, so the premium is 40.0% higher year on year.

Cat B (large cars) rose $800 (+1.0%) to $80,401. A year earlier, in Dec 2020 Ex 1, it was $45,012, so the premium is 78.6% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $45,001 to $82,801.

Cat E (open category) fell $1,001 (−1.2%) to $85,000. A year earlier, in Dec 2020 Ex 1, it was $45,510, so the premium is 86.8% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $45,510 to $88,000.

Cat C (goods vehicles) rose $1,498 (+3.4%) to $45,000. That is its 4th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat C premium since Feb 2021 Ex 1 ($45,001). A year earlier, in Dec 2020 Ex 1, it was $32,889, so the premium is 36.8% higher year on year.

Cat D (motorcycles) inched up $20 (+0.2%) to $9,401. A year earlier, in Dec 2020 Ex 1, it was $7,670, so the premium is 22.6% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $7,500 to $9,689.
