Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) dipped $310 (−0.9%) to $35,010. A year earlier, in Jan 2019 Ex 2, it was $26,170, so the premium is 33.8% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $25,689 to $36,704.

Cat B (large cars) rose $596 (+1.6%) to $37,705. A year earlier, in Jan 2019 Ex 2, it was $33,989, so the premium is 10.9% higher year on year. That puts it in the lower part of its 12-month range of $33,989 to $48,010.

Cat E (open category) fell $500 (−1.3%) to $37,500. It is the lowest Cat E premium since Jul 2019 Ex 1 ($36,901). A year earlier, in Jan 2019 Ex 2, it was $33,689, so the premium is 11.3% higher year on year.

Cat C (goods vehicles) rose $599 (+2.5%) to $25,001. A year earlier, in Jan 2019 Ex 2, it was $26,230, so the premium is 4.7% lower year on year. That puts it in the lower part of its 12-month range of $23,200 to $32,001.

Cat D (motorcycles) jumped $621 (+15.6%) to $4,610. It is the highest Cat D premium since Aug 2018 Ex 2 ($4,889). A year earlier, in Jan 2019 Ex 2, it was $2,889, so the premium is 59.6% higher year on year.
