Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) rose $1,101 (+1.4%) to $80,000. That is its 5th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat A premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Aug 2021 Ex 1, it was $45,189, so the premium is 77.0% higher year on year.

Cat B (large cars) fell $3,002 (−2.7%) to $107,001. A year earlier, in Aug 2021 Ex 1, it was $56,001, so the premium is 91.1% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $56,001 to $110,003.

Cat E (open category) dipped $1,001 (−0.9%) to $113,000. A year earlier, in Aug 2021 Ex 1, it was $59,599, so the premium is 89.6% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $59,599 to $114,001.

Cat C (goods vehicles) rose $1,200 (+2.2%) to $56,089. That is its 6th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat C premium since Nov 2017 Ex 2 ($57,701). A year earlier, in Aug 2021 Ex 1, it was $42,589, so the premium is 31.7% higher year on year.

Cat D (motorcycles) inched up $90 (+0.8%) to $11,000. That is its 6th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat D premium since Mar 2022 Ex 1 ($11,400). A year earlier, in Aug 2021 Ex 1, it was $8,899, so the premium is 23.6% higher year on year.

Bidding Competition

The Cat A quota fell −11.8% to 554 from the previous exercise. The Cat B quota fell −10.1% to 474 from the previous exercise.
