Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) fell $1,489 (−4.6%) to $31,210. A year earlier, in Mar 2019 Ex 2, it was $26,659, so the premium is 17.1% higher year on year. That puts it mid-way through its 12-month range of $26,659 to $36,704.

Cat B (large cars) dropped $2,789 (−8.5%) to $30,012. It is the lowest Cat B premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Mar 2019 Ex 2, it was $39,401, so the premium is 23.8% lower year on year.

Cat E (open category) was unchanged at $32,500. A year earlier, in Mar 2019 Ex 2, it was $41,000, so the premium is 20.7% lower year on year. That puts it at the bottom of its 12-month range of $32,500 to $52,502.

Cat C (goods vehicles) dropped $2,200 (−9.1%) to $22,002. That is its 3rd fall in a row. It is the lowest Cat C premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Mar 2019 Ex 2, it was $27,021, so the premium is 18.6% lower year on year.

Cat D (motorcycles) rose $179 (+4.2%) to $4,489. A year earlier, in Mar 2019 Ex 2, it was $3,469, so the premium is 29.4% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $3,000 to $4,610.
