What Stood Out

Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) climbed $5,503 (+6.3%) to $93,503. That is its 3rd rise in a row. It is the highest Cat A premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Mar 2022 Ex 2, it was $71,556, so the premium is 30.7% higher year on year.

Cat B (large cars) inched up $700 (+0.6%) to $116,201. That is its 5th rise in a row. It is the highest Cat B premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Mar 2022 Ex 2, it was $98,889, so the premium is 17.5% higher year on year.

Cat E (open category) was unchanged at $116,020. A year earlier, in Mar 2022 Ex 2, it was $99,010, so the premium is 17.2% higher year on year. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $91,112 to $118,001.

Cat C (goods vehicles) dropped $5,712 (−6.3%) to $85,389. A year earlier, in Mar 2022 Ex 2, it was $51,504, so the premium is 65.8% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $50,890 to $91,101.

Cat D (motorcycles) fell $389 (−3.1%) to $12,001. A year earlier, in Mar 2022 Ex 2, it was $10,501, so the premium is 14.3% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $9,489 to $13,189.
