What Stood Out

Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) inched up $556 (+0.6%) to $86,556. A year earlier, in Feb 2022 Ex 2, it was $63,000, so the premium is 37.4% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $63,000 to $90,589.

Cat B (large cars) climbed $9,477 (+9.0%) to $115,001. That is its 3rd rise in a row. It is the highest Cat B premium since Nov 2022 Ex 1 ($115,388). A year earlier, in Feb 2022 Ex 2, it was $93,590, so the premium is 22.9% higher year on year.

Cat E (open category) jumped $12,999 (+12.4%) to $118,001. It is the highest Cat E premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Feb 2022 Ex 2, it was $93,102, so the premium is 26.7% higher year on year.

Cat C (goods vehicles) rose $2,671 (+3.1%) to $87,790. It is the highest Cat C premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Feb 2022 Ex 2, it was $46,501, so the premium is 88.8% higher year on year.

Cat D (motorcycles) climbed $587 (+5.1%) to $12,189. That is its 3rd rise in a row. A year earlier, in Feb 2022 Ex 2, it was $10,589, so the premium is 15.1% higher year on year. That puts it in the upper part of its 12-month range of $9,489 to $13,189.

Bidding Competition

Cat B drew 1.76 bids per COE, well above its 12-month average of 1.40. Cat E drew 2.08 bids per COE, well above its 12-month average of 1.68. Some COEs went unallocated: Cat B (35 of 436), Cat C (7 of 47), Cat D (26 of 479). Unallocated COEs are added to the next exercise’s quota.
