What Stood Out

Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) dropped $1,788 (−5.6%) to $30,209. A year earlier, in Sep 2017 Ex 1, it was $36,001, so the premium is 16.1% lower year on year. That puts it in the lower part of its 12-month range of $25,000 to $47,112.

Cat B (large cars) fell $428 (−1.3%) to $32,001. A year earlier, in Sep 2017 Ex 1, it was $49,000, so the premium is 34.7% lower year on year. That puts it at the bottom of its 12-month range of $31,000 to $57,414.

Cat E (open category) fell $510 (−1.6%) to $31,801. A year earlier, in Sep 2017 Ex 1, it was $48,005, so the premium is 33.8% lower year on year. That puts it at the bottom of its 12-month range of $31,001 to $57,501.

Cat C (goods vehicles) dropped $2,901 (−9.7%) to $27,001. That is its 5th fall in a row. It is the lowest Cat C premium in our records, which begin in July 2017. A year earlier, in Sep 2017 Ex 1, it was $43,002, so the premium is 37.2% lower year on year.

Cat D (motorcycles) plunged $499 (−10.2%) to $4,390. That is its 8th fall in a row. It is the lowest Cat D premium since Aug 2017 Ex 2 ($3,512). A year earlier, in Sep 2017 Ex 1, it was $5,402, so the premium is 18.7% lower year on year.
