What Stood Out

• Biggest mover: Cat A, +5.5%. Overall, 3 of 5 categories rose and 1 fell.
• Narrow gap: Cat B is only $171 above Cat A.
• Unusual: the Open category ($39,000) closed below Cat B ($39,001). Cat E can be used for any vehicle, so it normally sits at or above Cat B.
• Most contested: Cat C, with 1.81 bids for every COE available.

Category by Category

Cat A (small cars) climbed $2,020 (+5.5%) to $38,830. That puts it in the lower part of its 12-month range of $36,001 to $47,112.

Cat B (large cars) was unchanged at $39,001. That puts it at the bottom of its 12-month range of $39,000 to $57,414.

Cat E (open category) inched up $199 (+0.5%) to $39,000. That puts it at the bottom of its 12-month range of $38,801 to $57,501.

Cat C (goods vehicles) fell $856 (−2.3%) to $36,003. That is its 5th fall in a row. It is the lowest Cat C premium in our records, which begin in July 2017.

Cat D (motorcycles) rose $342 (+4.5%) to $8,009. That puts it at the top of its 12-month range of $3,512 to $8,451.
